I'm so happy to have worked with Marco Canora and his amazing team on some of the design elements of the newly revamped Hearth. Located in the East Village, Hearth has been a part of this great neighborhood since 2003, and has seen a lot of changes over the years for sure. But the big change for the restaurant this year is a greater focus on wellness and the important of taking a holistic view at what's on your plate. In that spirit, Marco and I worked togther to create this infographic of sorts to highlight some of his healthy eating principles, and I love that he recognizes the importance of fat! If you haven't yet been to Hearth, now is the time to go! And if you're just passing by on the way to the L train, grab some of that amazing ginger and turmeric broth to go at the Brodo window on 1st Ave. So damned good!
Happy New Year!
Here's to a wonderful 2015, and a fresh start to 2016.
Cheers!

Man Made on Vice
Vice i-D just ran this great interview on the Man Made book with Dan Jones!
And here is one of the illustrations I did for the book — a portrait of Mr. Jones himself:
Makr Thanksgiving Kits!
I had lots of fun working with the lovely Sarah Weisman, of Makr, this fall to design and illustrate the pretty Thanksgiving kit you see here. And as of today, you too can have a customized Thanksgiving table scape that I've illustrated! Napkins, table cards, coasters, table runner— they've thought of EVERYTHING!
Ladies in Scarves
I'm on a sort-of, semi-vacation, so I'm drawing women in scarves.

Phoenicia Flea Recap
August has been a fun and busy month, filled with road-tripping, packing and unpacking, making prints, sketching, and not a lot of cooking. I had the pleasure of getting away on a couple of weekends with my good friend, Maresa, of Dusty Rose VIntage to participate in the Phoenicia Flea, a traveling makers' market organized by James Anthony and Paul Lowe, of Sweet Paul. The first weekend we hit Accord, NY where we set up shop at the beautiful Westwind Orchard, an organic apple farm where, if you come on the right weekend, you can get beautiful, zucchini blossom-topped wood-fired pizzas. Weekend two took us to Asbury Park, NJ, right on the boardwalk next to the amazing Market at 5th Ave. , a really interesting makers' market in its own right. On the way home from Jersey, we paid a visit to Seven Arrows Organic Farm, where Farmer Meg gave us a tour of the farm and introduced us to all her hard working animal companions. This month I met so many wonderful people all doing what they love, weathering the inconsistencies of small business ownership, smiling at the little victories, and laughing at the unpredictability of it all. Made me happy. Here are some silly pics from the months happenings.
Shout out to Joanna Donofrio
Earlier this summer, I had fun studio visit with the amazing ms. Joanna Donofrio, an east coast-based film maker who's working on a series of maker videos. When she invited me to be a part of her series, I was surprised and delighted. Getting over my shyness to share with you her beautiful work. Here's the teaser. Stay tuned for the full piece!
books, baby
Nothing like reading a good book in the sunshine. Currently enjoying The First Bad Man, by Miranda July.
Newtown Creek Prints!
I decided to make prints of the Newtown Creek inventory as well as the t-shirts, and you can get one now in the print shop. Prints are archival, 13" x 19" on 100% cotton rag.
Greenpoint Beer Ts
I was recently doing a little research on what sort of creatures live in Newtown Creek, a small body of water branching off the north end of the East River, and was surprised to learn how many different animals call this place home! I know that here in Greenpoint, Newtown Creek is has a pretty bad reputation relating to the pollution it's been victim to (namely an infamous 1978 oil spill), but creatures actually live here, a LOT of things, both great and small. I decided to highlight just a handful of them (plus one that might be fictional) in this abridged Newtown Creek Inventory I drew for the next Greenpoint Beer t-shirt. Prints will be coming soon too.
Declare Your Independence
Yesterday afternoon, I took a break from work to cool off in the McCarren Park Pool with my fave neighbor lady. Midday swim breaks are just one of the reasons that I'm happy to be a freelancer. The lovely and amazing Adina from S.W. Basics recently asked me to share what the bravest thing I'd done in my professional life was, and I think it was when I quit my full-time job so that I could focus on illustration. It was a big decision for me, but I can truly say that never looked back. If you're iInterested in reading more about that (and perhaps pick up some awesome natural beauty products while you're at it), then you can get the whole story on S.W.'s blog!
the latest thing I did for S.W. Basics -- a poster which tells you how to make your own beauty products at home, using healthy ingredients you can find in the kitchen
