August has been a fun and busy month, filled with road-tripping, packing and unpacking, making prints, sketching, and not a lot of cooking. I had the pleasure of getting away on a couple of weekends with my good friend, Maresa, of Dusty Rose VIntage to participate in the Phoenicia Flea, a traveling makers' market organized by James Anthony and Paul Lowe, of Sweet Paul. The first weekend we hit Accord, NY where we set up shop at the beautiful Westwind Orchard, an organic apple farm where, if you come on the right weekend, you can get beautiful, zucchini blossom-topped wood-fired pizzas. Weekend two took us to Asbury Park, NJ, right on the boardwalk next to the amazing Market at 5th Ave. , a really interesting makers' market in its own right. On the way home from Jersey, we paid a visit to Seven Arrows Organic Farm, where Farmer Meg gave us a tour of the farm and introduced us to all her hard working animal companions. This month I met so many wonderful people all doing what they love, weathering the inconsistencies of small business ownership, smiling at the little victories, and laughing at the unpredictability of it all. Made me happy. Here are some silly pics from the months happenings.
Hey fruit and veggie lovers--I just put some produce prints up in the shop for sale. 12" x 18," plus a 1/2" white border, 100% recycled matte archival paper. If you'd like to pick one up, then click though to my Etsy shop. Cheers!
Phew! Everything is finally all set for the Greenpointers Valentines Market, happening this Sunday from 1 PM - 7 PM at 67 West Street (5th Floor). Mike Hambouz and I will be sharing a table under the guise of VanderBouz Enterprises LLC. We will have so much affordable loveliness for sale! So many awesome friends will be vending at the event as well, such as Little Knitty Things. And my favorite beer makers-- Greenpoint Beer & Ale Co. will be pouring libations. Could it get more fun?
I'm most excited about the Fortune Valentines we will be selling at the market. What will yours be?
The beautiful colors are thanks to the rainbow of wonder produced by the French Paper Company in Niles Michigan.
I just wrapped up this sweet little poster for the upcoming Greenpointer's Valentine Market. Are you a maker? Maybe you should submit a vendor application then!
