I was recently doing a little research on what sort of creatures live in Newtown Creek, a small body of water branching off the north end of the East River, and was surprised to learn how many different animals call this place home! I know that here in Greenpoint, Newtown Creek is has a pretty bad reputation relating to the pollution it's been victim to (namely an infamous 1978 oil spill), but creatures actually live here, a LOT of things, both great and small. I decided to highlight just a handful of them (plus one that might be fictional) in this abridged Newtown Creek Inventory I drew for the next Greenpoint Beer t-shirt. Prints will be coming soon too.
New print: Flowering Weeds of Brooklyn
I just wrapped up a new print, which I will be selling along with my map of Greenpoint and a slew of Valentine cards, at the Greenpointer's Valentines Market on February 8. In this drawing, you will find some of my favorite wild flowers growing in our borough. Hope to see you at the market!
